Badges

Postby Judaism » Thu Jan 08, 2015 6:32 pm

Hey Salemites,

I feel like we are missing something on our clothes, I would love to see badges possible attuned to your coat. By that I mean visual looking badges with no other use than show.

The badges should be very rare and only received from major achievements such as ''end in the top 5 of the expeditions''.

Woudn't be something like this be cool:

Cool idea. Was kinda where we were going with "Statues" though. And we still have "Necklace" slot for something you can 'show off'.

I know but perhaps something inbetween the statues and nothing. Statues should be only for the winners, I don't consider a 5th place as a winner or whatever and yet it would be a great achievement.

The necklace spot is great aswell but basicly everyone can get one of those.

I like this idea but how do you handle the stealing of your clothing? If you can steal the medal you give away its value as a symbol of your victory as undeserving people may acquire a medal through legal (sells) or illegal means.

You cannot steal the badge, just like you can't steal a dunce hat. I figure that whenever you die, the badge dies with you in your grave.

Sounds like soulbound.

You can in fact remove a dunce cap from another player, as I"m sure you know.

Yes soulbound was the word I was looking for, long time ago that I've used that word (WoW).

Then I'm all for it. However I thought that everyone was suppose to die in an expedition? How do you give this medal to a dead person? Inheritance?

Indeed, but I don't see a future where anything in Salem ever becomes soulbound. Hard to steal, possible to bank, etc. etc. But "this belongs to you and only you forever" is just not something I think I could stomach.

Most of the 'rewards' from expeditions will be sent back to your 'next of kin' back home on providence.

I can understand that, I cannot see a way to work around it so no badges.
