As you might have gathered, being something of a hermit, I hadn't yet tclaimed my base. It seemed to expensive for my play style so I was saving up a bit first. Working on my walls etc. Problem is I'm an explorer at heart. I spent much of my time mapping and not actually working which left a lot of room for someone to take the hard work I have put in. It's not an amazing base but it is home.
One morning I came outside and found my base had been claimed over. Tried everything I could think of, failed. Then I posted a thread hoping to make a deal. When I got back from work I received a simple response. "I want your base." I lost hope. I removed what little valuables I have, but they were not secure, they could easily be stolen. I dropped just about everything else. Smashed my sheds. Basically I wanted Bad Touch to get as little as possible from the take over, but at a high emotional cost. Hell I even dropped my wood choppings. I didn't want to quit per-se but I might need some time to cool off. But it is darkest before the light.
At this point I received a lot of support through PMS and posts. Some told me not to give up hope and some expressed sympathies. Sky_Cardis called me an idiot, but at this point it just made me lol. Everyone else was being so kind, even if I had lost my base at this point I had decided to stay. People say Salem is toxic, but I can assure you that this is not the case. I've never had an experience like this in any game I have played. What people don't realize and appreciate about Salem is being able to have terrible acts done to them also allows players to commit great acts of kindness as well. More so than nearly any other game out there. While there are toxic players here, if you feel Salem as a whole is toxic you are not playing it right.
I received a message from Lallaith asking some questions, and with no prompting offered to take down the bell. I cannot thank her enough for this. I was running out of battery on my laptop at this point and tired from work so I apologetically left to sleep.
However, I barely sleep. I tossed and turned all night. It was not worry about my stuff. It wasn't even worry about my base. What kept me up is that I didn't know how I could adequately repay the kindness that I was shown. Not just to Lallaith and her compatriots but to the entire community.
Here's what I came up with.:
First I offered my scavanged Chain of the Most Illustrious Order of Good Cheer to Lallaith which she politely turned down. If anyone involved in the destruction of Bad Touch wishes some form of compensation please contact me.
Second I will continue to put a lot of effort into the wiki.

As you can see, even before this happened, I was hard at work cleaning it up. Added a few items, uploaded some icons, fixed some templates, added Blood's Cape pictures, etc, etc. I will continue to show much love to the wiki. Feel free to send me suggestions, updates, nude photos. Whatever. I work full time, go to school full time, and have irl relationships so I might not change things immediately but I will try my utmost to get to as quickly as I can.
Third am working on a fiction piece for Salem. I will post that when it's ready. I hoping to do it in such a way that promotes others to contribute as well. I think Salem could really benifit from a shared mythos. Devs have given us all the pieces it's up to us to put them in the right place. I will take a role in that.
Lastly. As a thank you to the community I will be making profiles of the players that shape Salem on the wiki. This I hope will have a two-fold effect. Drawing players who play Salem to try out the forums as well. The second effect is promoting players on the forums to post their adventures and add more content to the forums. I've talked to JohnCarver and got the go ahead on this. So any player who feels they merit a profile write a bio and take a picture of your character and I'll put it on the wiki. Players who don't feel like they've contributed enough are encouraged to simply contribute, whether it be fiction, help, drama, ideas, or bug finding. Keep being a part of this community.
Well that's all the massive text blocks I've got for today. Thank you Lallaith and thank you all.
