if you feed a turtle an item, it will take on the aether value of that item. As of now, a turtle with a high aether value has no particular value, except for the store challenge which requires a 85.00%+ turtle
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

When you mention a % for the turtle, how do I find that?

Most items have an Aether rating, when you mouse over it. That is % or purity of that item.

Oh, ok, so I did see like the sulpher and lead ratings go up when i took the turtle and it ate one of my food items..
The purity is at 0% though

that is because foraged food items are always 0% (aether) these days. The only way to have non-zero aether is by the farming/pot grind.
