Control card and hotkey graphical glitch.

Postby Fimbulvinter » Wed Dec 24, 2014 3:58 am

Since the most recent patch of a day or two ago, I've been getting a strange UI glitch.
All my hotkey and Control card icons are blanked out, or covered over with solid colours. They all still work and the tooltips come up when I hover over then as normal, so it isn't affecting gameplay beyond making it a little harder to find the right crafting option.

It is worth noting that this glitch doesn't seem to apply while I am visiting Providence. While in town, all UI displays perfectly normal, but changes back to glitched when I teleport back to my home claim.

In addition, the framerate has tanked significantly and there are some texture striping issues with things like skins on a drying frame

Anyone have any suggestions?

Just to ask: have you recently installed a graphics driver update, manually or automatically? This is usually caused near a light or smoke particle effect and goes away when that effect is no longer rendered. If a graphic driver is bugged, this can sometimes pop up.

Also, if you had set certain options previously (such as a :gl console command, ":gl meshmode d" being the most common needed), it might have been overwritten with an update. Make sure to re-enable such console commands if you needed to use them previously.

I did just update my NVidia divers at about the same time.
I'll try to do a clean re-install at next opportunity.
Don't have any console commands active as far as I'm aware. Certainly I never purposely used any of them.

Now that you mention it, the glitch does go away as I walk away from my claim, but it lasts the longest on the side with my meat smokers.

You didn't mention which operating system you used. There may be a "rollback" option that will restore previous drivers. Make sure you are using release versions of drivers and not beta drivers. That can be the most frequent causes of problems.

I'm running Windows 8.1, with a NVidia Geforce 745M card.
Rolling the driver back to 344.75 has yielded no discernable results, nor has a re-install of the most recent drivers.

I'm running out of ideas, and it sounds as if others are experiencing similar issues.

I have had sever crashes recently and completely wiping video card drivers and directx and installing the newest version shook my disease. I used this http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/dis ... nload.html
