Things that bothers me...

Postby Kruszyn » Tue Dec 16, 2014 7:50 pm

Hello...
I am new to this game (played few years ago for a few months and got back last month to see changes in game)...

A lot tings got better since i was playing last time but there r some things that makes me wonder...

1.> Repairing some of structures... To repair damaged box from 75% to 100% i need 1 board... this is ok since to make box u need 5 boards so that makes sence... but there r some weird exceptions that irritates me... Stone wall! to make one square of stone wall i need 1 graphite and 3 stones... but to repair it from 75% to 100% i need about 12 graphite! No matter what tool i use it consumes 1 graphite every 2% repaired... so to repair it from 1% to 100% i would need 50 graphite... where is the logic?

2.> Vanishing Cart... I went for hunting with a cart pulled behind... as a new player it took me alot of time to make it and get materials for it... i was hunting not far from my Homestead and i decided to kill a deer... when i suddenly got a huge lag and i died... Decided to rush back to spot where i died and go get pickup my things and Cart... But when i got to the spot after like 2-3 minutes or less all stuff including cart was gone! Why is that? i understand that some simple items like food that i had with me could vanish but a Cart? it was standing in my Homestead for whole day and suddenly 500m from my home it vanishes after less than 2 minutes... big no no...

I will add some more in here when i find anything else... so far the game is much better...

My Ideas:

Bows and Arrows... Better than Sling imo... to make basic bow branch or some kind of wood and fibres... for arrows hmm stone arrow stone/flint + branches x 5 = 10 stone arrows... iron arrows iron bar into 5 x arrow heads... iron arrow head + branches x 5 = 10 iron arrows... arrows stacks up to 100.

Adding some more Animals? Wild boars (with option to domesticate maybe... pig)... Wolves (packs)... Cow? Goat? Sheep? something that u could get milk of... that could give a whole new branch of products to make... milk... butter... cheese...

Watch Tower... when u climb on it u will get all animals/players (maybe other objects) viewed on the map... players could build watch towers around their homestead to make better area control around their home...

No paper in game? adding it would give alot of new options in game... possibility to add waypoints... making maps on the small scale... creating books (to write your own notes)... book shelves added to home equipment...

Animal Traps... there r already fish traps... making rope/fibre traps for small game and iron traps for big game... working on the same rules as the fish ones... (traps if set up have to be gathered back within 48h or so, if not they will vanish)

I could go all day... but what if the night comes? Implementing day and night cycle? with some animals more active (or spawning) only during night and despawning during day (Wolves)... I remember that there was area called Darkness back in a days but now when i tried to settle i was walking for more than a day and i didnt get to darkness... i just got to the point where cliffs were soo high that i couldnt climb em... or there is something after those cliffs?

Anyway that would be all... for now :D

All of your ideas are already here somewhere. Please search before you post things. You should also take the time to think out the mechanic you think you have a unique idea for and post a bit more information on it. And put each idea in its own thread. Otherwise, it's likely to get no attention at all.

Stone walls take 10 granite to repair to full. I don't know what happened to your walls, maybe they were damaged before the wall patch 2 months ago and are now below 0%? Or maybe you just miscounted?

As for your cart, it's very unlikely it decayed so quickly. You probably just lost it, it was behind a tree or something when you went back to where you think it was and you didn't see it, or you went back to the wrong place. Try adding this to your Radar file, if you are using a custom client: <marker match="gfx/terobjs/cart" text="Cart" Color="#885A06" />
It makes the cart appear on the minimap as a white square. Or, it will if you put that in the 'square' section like I did. Up to you what shape you want. But, open your radar in notepad, add that line, save, and then restart your client and go look around.

Actually they take quite a bit more. I was rearranging some walls just yesterday and destroyed a section of stone wall, when I went to repair a segment to tie it all back together it was at 14% after the splash damage. it took somewhere around 40 granite to repair it to full. (lost count) it was giving between 1 and 3 per piece, generally 2.. I would have built it completely new, obviously, but the splash doesn't allow a clean cut into a wall. this is quite excessive in my book and makes wall and base upgrades a real *****.

You are more likley to get the cost of walls to go up than the repair cost to go down by complaining about it. The repair values have been adjusted to make raiding/defending more dynamic. The fact that stone walls are so cheap so be counted as a blessing.

We will be watching the repair values of walls.

Now that claims don't decay without silver there is really no longer a 'reason' for your walls to become damaged unless you are under outright attack. Given that raiding is now a very time and resource intense procedure for a group of raiders it is only fair that the defender be required to 'pony up' with resources as well. This is the largest reason for the change. A stone wall could easily take a sophisticated solo raider 3-5+ hours to break through depending on the brazier coverage. Longer if it is backed up by massive brazier spam. As such, I don't find it reasonable that for 1, 5 or even 10 Granite pieces you get to set a raider back 5 hours of his life. However, for 60 Granite pieces, it does seem reasonable that he has to 'start over'.

As for your missing cart. Somebody stole it, you lost it, or it decayed.

As stated above the big annoyance the high cost causes is that it makes it incredibly expensive to add gates and redesign your wall layout, which is not uncommon for many newer players and from time to time even larger established towns. It would be nice if there was a way to take down walls with out causing splash damage.

You can. Freshly built walls shouldn't be splashing for quite some time.

When you say "splash" you mean that destroying a segment of the wall won't damage the other segments next to it? (but a superior wall still damages an inferior one, right?)

And, just to be sure, offensive splash has been removed from the game? So no more leaving 5+ tiles of space outside my walls?

Offensive splash is removed in such that freshly built tiles do not splash. If you let an enemy leave walls outside your base for an extended period of time this may not always be the case.

How much time after they can be considered "not freshly built"?
