Spread by the blankets given to us by the treacherous natives,

Since the only one you haven't tried is Smelling Salts, that's probably the one.

I actually tried smelling salts. It didn't have any effects. In a rage induce behavior I sniffed a batch of it hoping in a flicking moment of madness that, perhaps, the pain would cease. Well, long story short it did. I am cured.
