I've read the other thread kaios pointed and boy this game game community is **** and I mean complete ****. I really hope JC was just playing a role back and really sticking to it because otherwise the game is dead and buried and no amount of advertising or fixed systems will save it. Social darwinism might get you a few a very few people that will compete and be competitive but not if you kill them all before they even got a chance to experience the game at all.

I assume you understand that JWhitehorn in that thread is now JC, right? He basically killed this game and then realized what he had done and because he loved this game so much he bought it and betrayed his tribe which then kicked him out and then committed in-game suicide.

Having said that Clayet why the hell would you post another stream link EVER on these forums for a guy with 10000 followers or no followers? There's so many people that hate you (justly or not; my personal opinion is not) that you risk getting the people you post about killed just so they can spite you.

There was a big difference between this guy and Aavak's stream. This guy ported out into the world while Aavak and his mod's set up a camp 10 min W of Providence. There's basically no chance that this guy could get stream sniped and it obviously wouldn't have been "Worth" it. I didn't know this guy or follow him like I did Aavak. He's just some random streamer who doesn't have many followers. I follow the game on Twitch and I've streamed my mapping alts a couple of times now. Doapa is the only regular streamer we have and he only does it maybe once a month. He's pretty big but he does it for a gaming channel. Darwoth tried to snipe him back on Jamestown but gave up after he got a wall up.

I disagree. I see very little about the current game community that I would change, aside from maybe some magical way to get Darwoth to post his griefer tales more often.

Yet nearly everything you've done since you bought the game, from inheritance to defense to the new PvP patch (stockades, TbC, claimed bases not decaying) has helped noobs immensely.

I would agree that there was an 'issue' in the past where things were quite toxic. But even then I would maintain that the Salem forums are vastly more 'interesting' than your average forum that is void of confrontation.

I hope you realize this is how small Indi games and devs advertise and grow their games now. They get people to stream, play and welcome noobs to their games. There's no real advertising channel for you to go to. You're reliant on Streamers like this guy, noob helpers like me, who pass the game on by word of mouth, and if you're really lucky a mid level streamer like Aavak (who makes a living streaming) plays the game for a bit and brings 50-100 of his followers along with him.

Clayet is not as nice as you seem to think, he is one of the biggest trolls on these forums. Clayet know what will happen when he posts stream links and thats why he posts them.

I'm actually the nicest guy in this game probably. I'll help any noob, anytime. I didn't post the Aavak stream at all. I was watching it for hours and playing with them. I posted this guy's because he had gone out into the woods unlike Aavak and his mods and he was relatively safe from stream sniping.

But you also never banned Arheolog the guy that admited to both putting an account details stealer in one of the clients he made public and to crash lagging people in combat. And sorry but my current stance regarding you two has switched over time from from benefit of the doubt to I believe it when I see it. You made a great game and 90% of a decent game but you have no idea how to handle the unpleasant side of community interaction.

It was long ago on a russian forum. Glad to hear he was banned if a bit surprised. He's just one of the very few that bothered posting on forums at all so he has a higher profile. Maybe the situation ingame is better now I can't say but if it is the cause is more than likely because they just got bored and moved to another game.

I know, it was done by AD guys and blamed on Portgas, Dis already was a thing and they were enemies, so Apx himself had nothing to do with that. The same client was the reason AD's accounts were stolen by Dis 2 years later, because keylogger was never taken out, even though client's creator and Koya lied to the whole faction and assured everyone it was clean (in fact, Koya was fooled himself too and got his account stolen). After that AD tried to blackmail loftar and ddos the server by endless inventory bug and got their statue walls nuked because of that.
Dis already was international by the way and non-russians got their cut, but have no balls to admit it publicly till this day.
Russian Dis is still playing, not that actively though and they are being silent on forums.

My point being, aside from getting the facts straight, loftar does care and he takes action, when someone is caught by the hand and there is no doubt who is to blame. Ofcourse whole core Dis, half of AD and many others deserve to be banned forever, but that's not a decision that can be based on rumours, logic and assumptions. Besides bans always can be avoided.

Loftar functions under the mindset that if he can't dedicate his full attention to haven then it would be bad form to do anything about the abuses since he can't fix the systems that allowed them in the first place so he lets slide way too much. He probably thinks that he'll do it justice at a later date and punish all the abusers then but it's been years and people that play see the abuses happening and either quit in disgust never to return and think badly about the game because impressions last or decide they are ok and do them too. And really he destroyed their statue wall because they were ddos-ing the server when statue wall in the first place is an abuse that should have been nuked months/years ago? It's less than a slap on the wrist. What he should have done was raze the towns of the abusers to the ground and delete all accounts. Too harsh too much colateral damage? No because all those people that played with the ddosers were supporting them directly or indirectly. Do it every time **** like that happens and see how people start policing themselves. If it caused AD or Dis to quit? Bohooohooo what a huge loss.
