Haven forums are far far from confrontation free but even scum of the earth like Dis that were so bad they crashed servers stole passwords and ddosed the game (back when they were all russian and didn't let in foreign ass kissers) when they got on to set up a one supergrid wide noob protection zone. I mean it was basically a concentration camp/prison and they did end up killing people in it at a later point (and was one horrible sour joke but that what you get when you don't even ban ***** server crashers I'm looking at you loftar) but still nothing compared to the extortion racket/brainwashing machine tribe perpetrated when they were in charge regarding the health of the game. You see even the evil russian were smart enough to realize how killing noobs would ***** up the game. All haven worlds had a hands off noob town that even the bad guys pretended not to ***** with (though they did but pretending was the important part sometimes perception is everything).
As for you JC good for you that you get your kicks from griefing but I'm sure even someone like you would appreciate it more if there was you know actual ***** competition. When I started playing haven in world 2 my town got killed by the resident bad guys because we were noobs and our gates were always open because keys needed metal and we didn't have metal (and keys were a joke anyway), we didn't have a town we didn't have anything heck we were using standard client still they left us be for a whole month and we were technically helping the ranger faction with our ****** food. Many quit then but a few played on and we eventually raided the bad guy town. And next world? We teamed up. And those bad guys (not all though) proved they could be good guys too and that meant fighting actual criminals and the rise of the russians. You know real drama not low hanging fruit killing of noobs that quit and never come back.
Give people time to get attached to the game and you can raid them later sure some will quit (hermits are usually pretty useless and will quit because there is nothing holding them tied to the game) but if they associate with others you have on your hands if not a potential future faction at least potential future enmity good for creating real drama. What tribe did was killing that potential at the root in a very efficient way on one hand killing or simply discouraging those that would never join by it's very existance and on the other by recruiting the others, which is great if you really want to end up the only faction but that doesn't mesh well with the idea that you appreciate conflict.

Why are you here?
I can take tear threads but you're crying about **** you don't even know about.
Why am I here? Because I like sandbox games. And really crying is the best you can do? How about you know debating my claims? Too hard? And know nothing about? What is there to know? I can read as well as the next guy and my comprehension level is adequate. And if I really don't understand the issues how about you educate me. I'm up for that.
