Tents and beds have been mentioned tons of times, please make an argument so we have something to go on.

I like beds.

I don't like adding beds until there is a solid mechanic to base it off.

Enjoy having it set wrong because you don't necessarily have a splint. Now you have to get someone to break it for you so you can set it right.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Maybe warm and cozy buff is enough? It can be several tiers for beds and tiers of W&C buff

Or perhaps you could set your homestead to your bed. And depending on the teir of the bed, you could set a certain number of items underneath it, sort of like a leanto, but inside a house.

Beds as homesteads and W&C buff:
can only be built in a house:
pallet/straw bed: wood blocks and hay
wooden bed: dry boards and cotton sheets
metal bed: iron and Egyptian cotton sheets
four poster bed: copper, oiled boards, sea island cotton and silk sheets

can be setup outside:
leanto (as is) 2 slots for boxes
basic tent: wooden blocks and cotton, can be equipped to backpack slot or towed on a sled, 2 slots for boxes.
nice tent: planed boards, cotton, leather, can be equipped to back pack slot or towed on a sled, provides barkpack capacity(4), 3 slots for boxes.
adventurers tent: iron bars, fine leather, sea island cotton and tar, can be equipped to backpack slot or towed on a sled, provides backpack capacity (8), 4 boxes.

Setting a bed as HS means only you can sleep in it.
Right click the bed and sleep to log off (as in Haven and Hearth), bed becomes taken, if you are offline for more than [some] hours you get the W&C buff, the length it lasts is based on the tier of bed.

Yes this is rewarding people for not playing the game, but everyone has to log off sometime.

But why reward such obvious slacking!

Perhaps we should put in a warm and cozy buff that only applies if you watch your character sleep in his bed for 8 hours. We force the player to be active by having some mini-game that makes you turn in your sleep. After playing that minigame for 8 hours you could get the W&C buff for a full nights sleep in-game. It could be like fishing but "Think of England" can be replaced with "Dream of Golden Goose" ¦]
