which simply supports my position that guns are NOT the problem.

nobody likes militarized police overstepping their bounds and stomping on the rights of others, certainly not myself. however this fiasco is not one of those situations.

Regardless of what did or didn't happen here, can we agree that USA cops are a bunch of trigger-happy cowboys? I mean, what's your take on this, for example? Is killing a retired US Marine in his own home OK if he happens to be black? I'm pretty sure German police would never do something like that.

Christ, it's been well over hundred years from slavery, how long does it take to straighten up?

it seems like you really do not understand the massive differences between metro vs suburban vs rural departments and the differences in what is or is not "acceptable" from state to state.

metropolitan police departments are notorious for their jackbootery and i can point to dozens of incidents that are worse than probably anything you have seen or heard of, for example in a town i once worked in a few years ago a bunch of amped up swat wannabes surrounded a car with "dangerous" criminals inside, one of said cops blew the side of the drivers face off with a shot from his ar15. trouble is the "criminals" were the wrong people and were just local college kids, as i recall no charges were filed etc. friend of mine was picked up once in this same town because he went into a bar for less than 3 minutes looking for someone, he was not there, he had no drinks he gets arrested as soon as he gets into his car for a dui. since he was not drunk the two cops decided to be pricks and leave him in handcuffs with the heater turned up full blast for over an hour in the middle of august.

BUT on the other side of the coin i personally know officers in both rural and suburban environments that have gone out of their way risking their own ass to help folks they really didn't have to as well. like the mother they pulled over with an ounce of weed in her glovebox who had just got out for coke dealing, had a 65 year suspended sentence but everyone there knew she was a mother of 3. they let her go, she was never a model citizen, but after that she did keep her nose clean enough to not have anymore runins with the law and was able to raise her children. if it was not for the benevolence of the cop that day she would be in prison as we speak. then there are many examples where they have kept kids in their home by digging into their own wallet and supplying the necessary home repairs, appliances or whatever the ***** office clowns from a desk 200 miles away said was required for the poverty stricken parents to be a "good" home

cops are just people like everyone else, some are the scum of the earth. others are great people you would be lucky to know. the real problem with police is that they rarely speak up against one of their own when they are out of line, which in turn taints the rest.

I'm sure there are more good cops than the bad ones. The problem is that the system is bad because it protects the bad ones.

abuse's will occur in all things, particularly a government agency.

in spite of all that i can not think of anywhere else in the world with a more fair and systematic legal process than the united states. you do not even have to be innocent of the charge so long as you are able to convince at least one person on the jury that the law itself is *****.

Hell, it'd probably save Mexico from our guns as well.

What drugs are you smoking, and would you share? The prevalence of firearms has little to do with the crime rate, only the deaths related to crime. People would still commit crimes, but use knives and makeshift weapons to carry out a threat. As far as gang-related crime, I would be willing to predict there'd be little change in murder rates.
