pretty much any fullsize handgun with a doublestack magazine will hold 12 - 20 rounds, a .45 and a .38 are pretty close to as far apart on the power scale of centerfire pistol cartridges as you can get, the term is hollowpoint not flathead and the lowly .22 will stop a cow pretty effectively, on the rare occasion cattle is harvested with a firearm it is the most common caliber for the job.

Good god man. He could of been using a 9mm which holds around 16-20 rounds depending on the gun and with one in the chamber. If its not a 9mm then they will use a 40 S&W which will hold 12-14 depending on the gun. 45s and 38 are usually not used due to the low rounds in a magazine. You will see the old school guys packing the 38s or 44 magnums.

More then likely he was using a glock, springfield XD, sig saur, or a smith and wesson mp9. These are the top choices for most officers.

.22 will kill anything living and is used quite often. Caliber does not matter.

****, skim-reading got me, I missed "this list is not complete" here. Still, according to this US police killed 607 people in the same year. Adjusting for population size, that means that American cops kill 25 times more people than German cops. I would say that this is a big enough factor to conclude that USA cops are a bunch of trigger-happy cowboys.

If I really wanted to push it with unreasonable comparisons I would've used Iceland instead of Germany. IIRC they only had one guy killed by cops in the entire history of the country. I picked Germany because it's the closest to USA in terms of big urban areas and high number of immigrants.

Well, I don't have any real data, but I've heard anecdotes about Albanian mafia shanking people left and right. Wiki at least claims there are indeed gangs in Germany.

I'm pretty sure even the Balkans countries have lower death by cop rates, but we don't really have any sort of reliable statistics. And we have at least one war per generation, and here in Bosnia your average household has an AK47 at the very least, though many have stuff like RPGs and hand grenades (best find was when the international peacekeeping forces found a tank buried in some guy's back yard). So yeah, it ain't just the limp wrists.
