Well I'm not a raider/criminal/tribe member, so I don't know from experience.

Since the term of "waste" refers to the ability to destroy town property under the influence of "Waste Claim" caused by a Trial By Fire structure, I assume that's the case.

BUT

The skill description says "Waste allows you to destroy homesteaded property."
The wiki says "Needed to destroy the buildings on your enemy's land".
Also isn't destroying another person's claimed property/structures (Personal Claim) considered as a crime (that gives a crime debuff) ? And if it is, what scents does it leave?

you could always splash damage it away ;) the guy trying to kill you would have to be very confident of where you logged off to decrease the size of the area. and have to be very determined to spend silver extending the claim.

If the person puts JUST a PClaim, I'm pretty sure you can't port from there to Providence. And If you log in and wanna leave, you will leave trespassing scents...not sure if it works like that tho...need some confirmation.

What if the person cages you with a fence AND a PClaim? You'll require the Waste skill to break the fences which isn't too easy to get early or on a fresh new character...and doing it with your caged character (if it has that skill) will leave scents that can be summonable.

You can't log in on a player claim where you don't have permissions (you'll get occupied location error message, offering to teleport to your homestead losing the invent). On the other hand, you can't log out on a pclaim you don't have permissions on. But if your permissions are withdrawn while you are already on the claim, you won't leave any trespassing scents by simply leaving it (but you will when looking into storage etc.)

For both.

We're long past the part of the server lifetime where silver is in short supply. Don't ever count on the fact that your opponent can't miss X silver.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Thanks for clearing things up! I updated the guide with your info + a homestead related defense mechanic

Isn't this mostly out of date now?

Very much so. Removing the sticky.

I'd like to have a newbie guide or FAQ here, but I don't have time or make or maintain it right now. If anyone else would care to, feel free to do so and I will sticky it if people say it's good, but remember, you have to keep it up to date.
