Exactly. The police would respond. It's nearly impossible to get a hold of a gun in EU countries and if they are caught it's a massive penalty. Everyone's safer.

Most African Americans lead boring lives inside society just like the rest of us. Poverty is disproportionate in African-American communities because of a not-to-distant past of racism and discrimination. Slowly but surely it's getting better. Cultural norms within Black culture keep them from integrating towards society as a whole, but again that's changing also. The vast majority of African-Americans are pissed off at shootings like this and especially Treyvon's because of the continued perception and reality of the views of white police officers in this country. Australia and Britain forced buybacks at fixed prices. Mostly they made guns really, really hard to own through strict licensing, so people just got rid of them instead. They got what they paid for them if I remember right.

Canada has stricter laws on what guns are available to buy up there. Again, their system would really work here. Their murder and crime rate is much lower because of simple stuff like no private sales without background checks, the equivalent of a driver's license to own a gun, and certain types of guns being illegal to own.

See, that's the thing. They're not the major demographic. They commit some crimes disproportionately to whites but similarly to poor whites who live in urban settings. Whites and Hispanics still commit more crimes overall. Blacks just commit the most per capita, and not in all crimes. Concentrated inner-city poverty and drug prohibition are major factors. Gangs, poverty and concentrated urban police action are why there are so many blacks in prison per capita. Slowly but surely the racial per capita crime statistics are normalizing. Eventually we'll get there.

You can own most handguns, shot guns and rifles. Almost all assault rifles, large magazines and stuff like that is banned. You actually don't even need to have a license to own a rifle or shotgun for hunting. The big difference is the licensing and the banning of stupid guns nobody needs or uses except to play soldier.
