Well, I liked all of the infinity engine games (especially PS:T), which were technically more of the same. They were still great and unique in their own way.
So for me personally it didn't stop DAO from being enjoyable, even despite its other shortcomings.
Playing DA2, however, felt like everything I liked about previous BioWare games was hammered into a spiked ball of nonsense and slowly shoved up my ass.

Interesting, my co-worker also criticized the previous DA games. He seemed to have problems with the party AI. In this one, however, I have not encountered any such problems so far.

I must admit, though, that I've only scratched the surface so far and the minor and/or big prolems might still be lurking behind any corner of the later game.

I ordered it, i hope i will get it tomorrow. I played da: origins and da:2, i totally loved those. I just hope my pc will manage so i don't have to compromise too much on the graphics.

So I ran into my first AI problem when entering a cave. There was a dead end branch and my party wanted to run against the wall there when I aggroed a mob inside other branch. So it seems their pathfinding isn't top notch, or I managed to find a bug.

some of the default key bindings are annoying. specially when you invoke tactical mode from the mouse roller. And occasionally when you initiate a conversation you end up standing weird so you can't see the one you are talking to or it kinda initiates "half" so you can still more around when talking which is not how it's wasn't intended. Somehow also targeting stuff midst battle is a bit hard, at least it was for me up until i figured it out more. Still is a bit annoying though. Mainly finding dead party members for resurrection, targeting rifts and looting.

Sounds like a bad console port, since I don't recognize any of those problems.
