Those mannequins aren't there because they're worried about getting KO'd. They're there to have fun but just not at that moment. And right now there's nobody in town trading at all. They're all just running to their stalls to fill them up and then leaving right away. Nobody's willing to risk trading in the barrels anymore and they're probably right to do that.
People don't just stand there afk for no reason. They go there to relax, see people they know, to listen to the area chat, to just repeat their prices, wares, or trade link on an alt every 5 min's or so and to simply chat to people online playing the same game. They shouldn't have to worry about some guy in the corner doing a 60+ sec dance and then slowly killing them for 2 hrs while they are cursed and die if they don't pay attention to whatever "Bad things' JC is talking about and that we don't know about but are supposed to. A full active town with a few people leaning against buildings afk just listening to the trade talk is key to a good MMO. It builds a community and a game.
People meet each other in town, they maybe start a base together and then a town and then a guild. They can't do that succession of game-play if they don't want to hang out in town and meet people because they might get cursed and die.
All of these are going to be required if JC and the dev's want this game to grow, if it just turns into Witches popping into town for a minute to catch someone afk and then popping home before they burn and then slowly killing someone who doesn't realize they're getting killed because they don't know the mechanic, then the game won't be all that much fun for people who like to be social in town.

I'm already getting people sending me messages like this and saying they hate that they can't just go to town and relax with all the people that used to be there. I really think you need to understand that not everyone wants to play like you do and you need to offer them a space in the game. If you just accept that not everyone's hardcore and they just want a 'little taste of danger' instead of constant threats, this game could get bigger.

Last questions about the mysterious mechanics:
1. What if a person is really low in all humours and is cursed without knowing, will it still take 2 hrs to kill them or will it take much less time.
2. Does the person have to not move or mouse click in any direction for the whole 2 hrs or for just the 60 sec dance?
3. What about if they're cursed without knowing it and then log off while the witch is doing the 2 hr spell? Will they still be killed while offline and logged off?
All of these questions are important for barrel traders and people who want to try and sell stuff in the square.
