I was over at a players house and saw they had the ability to lock their mini map in place. How do i do this?
Also have seen screen shots of players with 3 to 4 hot key bars, and i only have two. How do i get more?

Check out the popular mods in Artifice & Arcana. Kandarim's Latikai mod is currently the most popular public one. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=7681
Also, there may be private mods running around that adds more to the game than the public ones do, so sometimes you see videos with these in them. Unless you know someone that will give you the download information, there's not much to be done.
