That is true if reversed also, if you keep the character you can make another base more easily.
Both a good base and a good crafter are very valuable and with one you will have an easier time replacing the other. People should look at it as they always need one or the other to rebuild so they must make sure they don't loose both.

i agree, never loose both. once you are able to make a backup char and place it somewhere else in a small base of its own and keep it offline except for payment of the backup base.
or just keep it offline period.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I used all the resources and studied the rest, and then traveled back to town. It was a really awkward corner I fell in and yes lesson learned! I am starting to understand that gathering and character building is far more valuable than items in the inventory in this instance. Thanks again
