The truth is I didn't miss a single thing. I said very rare not never. Games that I played before always put notification about patch or new item mall in launcher and some again use Facebook and twitter. That's more than enough for me
Sometime I'm going to website/forum to see the detail but usually I come to forum only for help section.
Maybe you missed important things in other games, and maybe you didn't, but the fact is, if you don't at least read the threads in the Announcements section, you WILL miss out in this game. And the fact that Salem doesn't use Facebook or Twitter yet and doesn't have announcements of any kind built into the client, but does have a clearly marked Announcements section in the forums, should clue any new player in.
John Carver is kind enough to give us warnings of things that might adversely affect our gameplay at patch time and tell us how to avoid the worst. If you choose to ignore, that's entirely on you.
