Pretty much what I did when my fish died, bought a Lepard Gecko instead (mom thought a Beardy was too big)
Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

From a pet you don't get shuck out of, to another one you don't get shuck out of.
I get people buying a dog, or even a cat - at least those will give you a bit of interaction aside from being useful in catching rodents/guarding
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I don't get people buying dogs or cats, because you can get them for free.

well, if you want one that is at least somewhat less likely to be full of diseases and you are looking for a particular character type... you buy a breed from a REPUTABLE breeder.

thats why you buy.

Pff, women are best pets. They clean, cook, iron clothes and eat schlong.

I'm pretty sure that animal shelters do a health exam on animals before they put them up for adoption. And you can interact with the animals before you decide which one to adopt, so you can pick out one with a personality you like. And mutts are generally a LOT healthier than purebreds.
