how exactly does timber piles work???

Postby summertime » Sun Oct 19, 2014 10:19 am

i read http://salemwiki.info/index.php/Timber_Pile and tried searching forum for more info about the exact molding mechanics but could only get vague advice

so maybe devs or other people can answer following questions:

1. is the timber pile range circular like braziers? if it is circular, whats the range of it counting from the centre of the square timber pile ??
2. do only objects with a hitbox within the range give a risk to get moldy??
3. does a big object like house give same risk as 1 small object like brazier??
4. does a timber pile that is very modly affect other timber piles within range worse than just a timber pile that is little moldy???

1: its square and its 5 squares from the edge to any objects. so if 2 piles are taken, thats 3 for the first pile, then 5 empty then another 3 for the 2nd pile
2: no everything except farmland.
3: no clue hasnt been tested afaik.
4: I imagine NOT, its the fact that there IS something, not what is there but see answer 3.

Check out the wiki in my signature for better timber pile mold explanations than what you'll get in the old wiki.

AFAIK: The range is square. All structures give an additional risk for moldy except farmland. There is a theory that gates, humus bins, and other board piles give bigger risk than other structures, but I do not think this is true; I think the RNG has fooled people into looking for mold reasons where there are none.

thanks for answers, the range question is specially hard to test so thats why i hoped either old or new developers had said something about it before

I don't know if it's actually true, but I tend to get more dry boards if I wait a few days after the boards can be collected from the piles.
