I think it's okay for players to say they don't like something and can give good reasons why (like you just did) than saying something alone the lines of what was said previously. There was no criticism, just cynicism.

Still, some opinions shouldn't be dismissed just because a person can't :
a) be politically correct
b) be polite
c) argument like a debate demigod

And if dismissing was the only thing that happened, that'd be fine. But when people get sniped as a result of poorly phrased feedback it makes one wonder how you can get a point across if it falls on deaf ears. Because the natural human reaction to being blatantly ignored is usually a lash out. So if we're arguing pro one's right to act like a human being, I'd like to think both the devs AND the players should be allowed the right. Also sorry about the derail, my opinion was less about Heffernyan and more about a particular instance of duncehattery that took place in the map size related suggestion thread.

These dunce-hattings and other in-game smack-downs for forum infractions are becoming the norm and seem to be given out faster and more casually, I hope this dose not start to chill productive feedback. So far no one punished was providing (nor to my knowledge had ever provided) useful feedback, but chilling effects can spread a lot wider then are intended so restrain is advised.

Well at this rate everyone will have a dunce hat by release, so it won't be any real disadvantage.
