Timber Pile: Dumb Question?

Postby BigPun » Thu Oct 16, 2014 10:55 am

Maybe it's my imagination, but it sure seems like it has been 5+ days already. I don't get a flower menu when I right-click. So, how do we know it's finished?

I could be wrong in my counting, but it sure feels like it has been 5 days.

So will it just have a right-click menu when it's done?

For future reference they clearly have a different color which is easily discernible if you have a pile that's done and one that's not near each other to compare.

And yeah, like the guy said, you do have a random chance of them getting mouldy no matter what. To prevent personal accidents, or those by anyone you play with, give them their own little area marked off with a makeshift fence.

Also, don't leave them somewhere you don't actively control access to unless you like strange people meddling with them, as you can drop a rock or something near it or even just wander around near them and if it doesn't involve trespassing, it's not a crime. The thing is, your piles can still get messed up.

haha. Thanks for the tips guys. And that kinda' sucks about the 10% chance of getting moldy boards. Now, can the moldy boards be re-used to make another timber pile?

Also, my timber pile was complete earlier and they all came out pristine! Unfortunately, I used half of them trying to make enough planed boards for a cart. :(

So, here comes another 5 days. I'll be clearing out a nice spot to place two at a time off to the side of everything on my property. w00t.

Thanks again.

If you don't know, farmland won't rot your boards. A lot of people, myself included, like to place timber piles at the intersections of fields where they are out of the way. Just be sure to move your compost bins elsewhere if you've been keeping them in your fields.

That's a good point. My next question would have to be "how many spaces do each field occupy?" -- that'll actually give me a better idea of how many fields I'll need to surround the piles.

But also, is there an option to lay down a 'grid'? It said 5 spaces, but I just guesstimated. . . I don't know of any real way to determine 5 spaces. :(

I use piles of wood to work out spaces. Just pop up the build option and it will give you the 'ghost' of the build, which snaps to the grid. You can then use this ghost to count the grid squares by moving it along the ground.
Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
