So, I found a horse...

Postby oubliette » Tue Oct 14, 2014 5:46 pm

I can ride it, that's great but, now what? Can I keep it? How do they work? I've searched the forums and web but seems to be speculation threads and cart threads. Anyone experienced in this?

Probably some other player left it. You can buy horses in Boston and ride them. They will despawn if left unattended, so treat it as a one-time ride

So people pay money for horses which they can not keep? Is there perhaps a stable?

Horses are very fast, so players usually use them to travel long distances from Boston to some base they want to raid or defend. The horse will stay as long as the tile is loaded, so if you do ride your horse all the way to your base, you can put him in a pen and put a character in there with him that you leave logged on. That is something that is sometimes done, but it's certainly a lot of trouble, and you definitely want to use a low value alt, and if the server resets, the tile is unload anyway so you still lose the horse eventually.

Good to know. Thank you. I'm surprised there's not stabling system. As a side note, since I found this one, how much do they cost and how does one find the salesman of horses?

There will be domestic animals when the devs get to the domestic animals part of the roadmap. A few patches ago, they put in these limited toy horses just because they had the code for it sitting right there and because it does help with the ungodly large map size. There will be a better system and persistent horses, persistent domestic animals of several kinds, eventually.

in Boston there is a merchant disctrict with all the NPC. The one selling horses is a stall near well... horses... And it costs something like 250s I don't remember the exact price.
