Sephorin wrote:I am horrified to learn that some citizens of New England may be practicing witchcraft amongst us! I demand to know the following:

1. The name of the accuser who has entered a complaint against 'Lizbeth Maudney.

Providence officials have decided, citing the Malleus Maleficarum and the ruling of Bonifice VIII, that due to the nature of the accused, there is too much risk to witnesses in having their names laid forth. As such, witness names will be stricken from the testimony.

Sephorin wrote:2. The loss that the accused has caused, and the time and place that it did occur.

This will be provided to the best of the witness' abilities during each of their testimonies.

Sephorin wrote:3. The evidence that the magistrate has deemed admissible to the public, and the names of the witnesses that will support that evidence.

See last two responses.

Sephorin wrote:4. Who will prepare the witch cake, baked in the urine of those the witch has afflicted, and whose dog shall eat the cake? As everyone with a brain knows, a witch shall cry out in pain when a dog eats the urine of a person whom the witch has afflicted.

This is not medieval Europe and we have no desire to unduly commit the accused to a torturous experience prior to judgement. Therefore urine cakes will not be used as a suitable determinant and we will have to rely on the educated opinions of Salemites. We are also very short on ducks at the moment.

How am I to form an educated opinion if we don't have any ducks? All we can do is make wild guesses.

Geese float as well - who wants to donate a golden goose for this matter of the law?
Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Let's just make her an offer that we will let her free if she teaches us the secrets of witchcraft

A witch can either be male or female, the thought that a warlock is simply a male witch is a common misconseption due to film and media. In old english warlock simply means oath breaker.

Apparently some bunnies spawned around Lizbeth. I know some people with purple letters can do that too. Just saying...
