You should also bring alt/alts at your claim for scouting. Also build a fully fenced area inside your claim.

I am still fairly new to the game and due to RL work and love I won't have the time to become a big player either.

I have not yet teleported out of Boston but plan to do that now. Is there a way to just survive without a village ? If I just have the basic structures which I can give up and rebuild if the area become questionable I should be fairly safe, should I ?

What are the recommended minimum skills and humour values to teleport out of Boston ? Is there a way to avoid a dodgy area or is there a chance to be teleported just right beside a base and get killed right away ? I could also walk a few hours over the next days if that would help but I would not even know where to walk and I assume there is no "quiet" area of the map anyway, correct ?

Make sure to teleport out with the wilderness guide as that will get you away from most people the quickest.

I would teleport out, then walk for 1-2 hours until you find a spot you like. Its not all that dangerous out there unless you encounter other players.

OK, thanks for the hint. How would I make sure I do not walk back to Boston by accident and therefore closer to other players again ? Would I walk to the west ? The minimap always has north on the top, correct ?

when you have a homestead you will have an arrow that always points to it, thus when you are in Town, make a note of where the arrow is pointing and it will give you a good idea of which direction you are in relation.
Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

if you're walking west then yes, you are never walking towards boston.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
