stupid question

how do I make the ground flat and level
I paved it and it isn't level

Adventure->dig to dig soil (having a shovel helps a lot). Hold ctrl when clicking on a tile to dig to dig it down to same level as the lowest corner, hold ctrl when dropping dug soil to fill up to the level of the highest corner. Get Latikai's client and use ctrl+l to select an area you want to flatten and better see what needs digging (red) and what needs filling (blue).

I did that and it just keeps digging
also I keep getting errors whenever I try to download enders client or Latikai's client

Without Enders or Latikai's client its very difficult to flatten the area.

you cannot dig when the area is paved. You must first remove the paving (which, incidentally, is also done through the digging command). I don't think you can use any modifier keys to do so, though.
