Did anyone else Lose their last location?

Postby Necromateur » Tue Sep 30, 2014 6:41 am

So I'm playing both my accounts, and this happened maybe an hour after the restart. Both connections went bad and everything froze up.

I log into my main only to receive a message that my last location was not saved and that I'd have to respawn at home(which is fine), but lose everything in my inventory.

sigh.

Really?

Did anyone else suffer the same fate today? Are we now supposed to fear for our belongings when the game craps out? :(

I think you read that wrong, The message is supposed to say your last location was obstructed.
Obviously you don't get to keep your current inventory if you choose to log in at your homestead as "Traveling" only allows items when porting between your homestead and providence.

I was AT my homestead when the game stopped working. Both of my characters were sitting inside of my fence. And nope, I didn't read it wrong. The location wasn't properly stored.

When I clicked "no" 'cause I didn't want to lose my stuff, it just went away. No other options, meaning It was either my character or my stuff.

Oh I'm positive. Every item from inside my backpack and my normal inventory were gone.

you need to be close to your homestead (or in boston) to be able to keep your items. If it is a leanto, I think it's a five-tile radius or something like that. If it is a claim (as it jolly well shouldn't be) it's anywhere on the claim.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

This happens fairly often actually. If you are going through a gate when your client (or the server) crashes, then it will consider your position obstructed and will force you to log on at your leanto with your stuff dumped around the gate. If you are canoeing, it will consider your canoe to be blocking you and you won't be able to log on there unless you move the canoe with another character.

In case of a canoe, just give it a couple of minutes and you can often just log into the canoe again.

You certainly did read that wrong, because no such message exists in the game. :)

However, the items aren't just deleted, but dropped where you did log out, so if it wasn't far from your homestead, you could have gone to pick them up. I guess it's too late for that now, though.

I was ON my homestead. I was building a fire right by my campsite (which is right next to my claimstone). I'm not sure how much closer one can get to the claim.
