huh? What do you mean? AFAIR arrow points to the border of current supergrid, in the direction of the other character. So if you aren't in the same supergrid, it will point to some location in the wilderness. It may update to the border of another supergrid then if the other character starts moving around

the arrow knows the right location of the party member, but is not able to display it accurately in the current setting.
I haven't looked into the specifics of the arrow's rendering, but I know from experience that if you look top-down on your character, the arrow always points in the right direction. It's once you start exploiting the perspective of the free camera that things go wrong.

You will start walking towards it, and this time it will be accurate. So just click the portrait from time to time to see the direction and then just follow it
