sod cutting

currently when you dig a tile and turn it into raw dirt it will eventually "decay" by turning into the biome next to it.

let us "dig" a tile of biome and carry it like a bush, this would allow folks to do more advanced landscaping and biome manipulation by bringing back a few tiles of sod from that biome and slowly growing it larger, would allow towns to make an oasis in the badlands. more decorative tile options for carebears etc.

As far as I know it'll depend on the kind of trees you have planted in the dirt. No tree => grassland. Even in the middle of a forest. I'm not aware of the exact mechanics but it sounds like something like that.

Exemple : I removed few cliffs and trees here.

not sure with regard to trees, but if there are no nearby trees it will turn into the neighboring biome. there were russians on JT that made a few designs by simply digging ditches over and over until they were able to stretch the neighboring biome into their area and shape it from there.

the beartain town here was doing similar a few months ago.

Please give us this!

I have been at war with the biomes in/around my base since pretty much the start of the server. One of them STILL hasn't made it through it's channel... meanwhile, the unwanted biome just keeps coming back, because it's gotten under some walls which I don't want to pave under and rebuild... I was so sure I'd gotten rid of them before placing the walls but no :c
If I could just place my clump of dirt from the correct biome, all of this pain would be over.

BTW the only time I've ever seen a non-neighbouring biome regrow over dug ground, it was just grassland. I'm quite convinced that it's only ever grassland.

thats because you are a newb, when i made cheena cook me a sandwich and build me a driveway on JT the road from town to jamestown stretched through nearly all of the biomes and since they did not pave the borders it was 70% grown over within a month.

The thing I've learned, is that even though you may not see the unwanted biome, it may still be there. You have to actually dig over pretty much every tile and not rely on dirt going onto the surrounding tiles to fully get rid of a biome you don't want, or even paving may not save the area.

I think you don't know what paving can do with biome.

There should be a way to pack the ground to prevent biomes from growing in that tile you have packed. Would require a shovel and would take a bit of phlegm and that tile should already be dug before you can pack it.
