Waste claims are a big hassle that few people would go through for a mediocre-looking base. And doesn't it also have lower upkeep per tile? At the very least it's cheaper to buy than expanding a personal claim that big.

Not to mention you can expand town claims with flags and statues, and not just into 4 directions. Diagonal claiming ftw.

What does 'sockpuppet' means here? Isn't it just a ban for similar account names?

It means that he was banned, and used some other accounts on the forum to avoid those bans. Believe me there is no problem on using multiple accounts. The only thing you shouldn't so, is talking to yourself on the forum using those accounts. And avoiding bans with other accs of course.
