100 is perhaps too low sure, but was just an example to prevent the 2000's. Keep in mind the devs are developping Siege Engines, they will break stuff for you.

Not talking about PvP, just about hunting, or destroying defences (lower braziers, lower humors, siege engines, more fun, ...) things like that.

I'm not sure that has ever happened and will happen for another couple of years that go without a server reset.

Would actually be nice to get some dev thoughts on where the game is going raiding wise. And I don't mean the aspects listed by Mereni / Feone. I mean in terms of cost/benefit of basically levelling a base. I feel that while it should be possible, it should be something you do with great cost to your own resources and time, so as to be kept something done to major enemies. Say two warring factions could take the time and effort to level an enemy base, whereas raiders just plundering a random base shouldn't find it at all desirable to level a base "for the lulz", on a whim.

Thoughts? Dev thoughts? :P Either way yeah, humour caps would stunt the feeling of progressing, there are other ways of obtaining what you want, at least some of them a lot more fun to play the game with. Besides, the current system only makes one thing true, the new devs will have to keep adding some form of content for end-gamers, which is great. Let them have incentive to add more stuff :D

There is currently a hard cap, its likely somewhere around 2 to 4 billion. And the current gluttony system implements an effective cap, even if you use pots to completely eliminate the timer, as you can only fit so much food on the table and in your inventory and there are only so many foods of different types that are good for a single humour.

Currently the cost of leveling a well established base, even if its not actively defended, is substantial and not the kind of thing that would be done "for the lulz" or on a whim, at least not in a open and direct attack, though this will probably be reduce eventually to allow raiding to be economically viable.

The devs have already stated that there are / will be two main mechanics to prevent the established factions from being dominant permanently.

1: Guns. I believe the muskets deal a percentage damage. Even someone with 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 blood can be dropped by a few noobs with guns scoring a bunch of good hits.
This makes EVERY half decently equipped group dangerous for even the most powerful characters.

2: The devs have stated they want Safety to be non-existant in Salem. Everyone should be raidable. This is not yet implemented so details aren't available but going by the spirit of what the devs have said so far it means even the most powerful can be raided by other groups so building characters up to incredible power just to be "invincible" could simply be ended by a summon kill.

In short, assuming the devs can implement these ideas properly, there will be little point in spending months to grind out extreme stat characters for raiding.

This.

That never actually happened. It's funny how people constantly overinflate the humors attained. 1000 to all was the highest ever reached at that but briefly. It was more a project to have something to do than anything because there was just nothing left to do and everyone else had quit due to extreme boredom with the then current system. No one really wants to spend hours and hours farming and cooking JUST to get another 5 points to ONE humor. And then go on a raid and the braziers subtract 10. :/

We saw the devs at the recent event had 400 to all at that was more than the highest currently. I recall a month or so ago someone was whining about how there are 'titans' out there with 500 humors running around.

I think a lot of people here either don't remember this or they just didn't make the connection, but before waste claims, there were NO characters much over 150. 150 was hard enough to reach and since you were likely to get summon killed, there was no reason to go higher. May as well start working on a backup when you get to that point. Then defenses were 'improved' to make them stronger. The tribe rejoiced because it meant it was that much more difficult for new players to get into the raiding game. Humors went up to 250 to compensate and stopped. Then waste claims came out and no one could be killed in a vault without 24 hours notice. For a raider that's almost like handing them a get out of death free card. That is when the servers started seeing crazy numbers like 500, 650, even three guys showing off and getting to 1k.

The point is, strong defenses and waste claims are the direct cause of 'titans' and humors going above 200. Now, it's been so long we've all gotten used to it and expect to have to reach 300 minimum to be even marginally effective in any situation. But it doesn't have to be that way and never did. Just weaken defenses to something reasonable and remove waste claims. That will go long way towards resurrecting things like Rangers and the like and making it difficult for one faction to dominate. A humor cap is the last thing we need as no raider wants to waste time going any higher than he has to.

I also think a cap is a bad idea. Why punish the hard workers who strive to have the highest humours. This is no easy task since the wipe. Just because you are to lazy to work at it, don't get mad at us titans. With work, anyone can get to 150 or better very easily.

Especially so low as 100.

No, the solution is to make it less safe to raid by doing things like removing the waste claim and reducing the power of defenses. Believe me, if someone knows they might log on to find their 400 to all character summon killed at any time, they won't be building their humors that high.

Add to it:

3. Scents and summoning. Oh wait, we already have it and it doesn't really make a difference! Humours are not the problem. Established players will always have the upper hand. Whether thanks to humours, infrastructure, many alts, purity. If you keep trying to remove everything that makes established players stronger then you will end up with MOBA
