You could test these things in game. But yes, culinary effects the baking table. The rolling pin only effects the pie dough speed.

DarkNacht wrote:Ron knows it does. I think the point is that the only reason to make wood working not affect the speed of making boards is to force us to use something else to speed it up, so should we expect this with everything one day. Having wood working speed up all wood working except making boards is like having culinary effect all cooking activities except making pies.

Yes. Which is exactly how it already works now with the rolling pin and how it will work in the future on most industries. Every industry will have one tool for one task that will greatly speed up said task. Cleaning cotton for tailoring is another example of what the civilian artifice doesn't do because a tool will be used for that instead.

Procne wrote:I still see no reason why woodworking shouldn't affect board cutting. Sure, there will be a new tool. So why can't both of those affect board cutting? Like woodcutting is currently being affected both by a metal axe and woodworking. Why couldn't we have board cutting speed increased by 50% with woodworking, and tripled with woodworking AND a new saw? We could have artifacts affecting whole profession in smaller degree and tools affecting specific tasks in larger degree. After all it's easier to make / change tools than to prepare whole clothing set.
Few months ago I was excited about making woodworking set and having my board cutting speed tripled. But now I just don't bother with civilian sets. Crafting cloths, crafting artifacts and socketing them isn't free. It would be nice if the effort paid off.

So to truly master one's profession you must purchase x mystery toolboxes from the store ( rolling pin the current exception). Just wanted you to clarify your final intent here.

I hardly classify doing one faucet of a profession faster as the only way to truly master a profession. But sure if that is the way you see it then yes, you will need a store-tool item from either your profession pack or the mystery tool box if you wish to do every aspect of your profession at maximum speeds.Procne wrote:I still see no reason why woodworking shouldn't affect board cutting. The problem isn't so much board cutting. Its that woordworking does 'too much'. Right now its Planing boards, whittle bench, chopping Blocks, Cutting trees etc. Whereas, the other civ's are much more limited in scope. I could add board cutting to it as well, but then I would feel the need to remove board planning and tree chopping for example. Given that board planing and tree chopping have no planned tool to speed them up, they didn't seem like the best choice.
