If you want to hermit you can - you just have to socialize enough to trade with a trusted merchant.

Merchants will be of even more use now.

Ah yes, but this is the way old-school MMO's worked. The way to tell is to look at their forum threads or sources. Do they have many players saying they were given a Diff 12 clothing? or a Diff 5? Probably legit. Does everybody get Diff 25 and this person has the worst RNG in the world? Possibly a scammer.

Either way, once somebody gets their professions that high they probably have a reputation to maintain in some way shape or form, either good, or bad. It is up to the person who commissions that person to do a bit of legwork to see how other customers results went.

I played a game called Wurm online before. In that game, skills take forever to get. You need months or even years to fully train a skill, and it is very expensive because they are all depends on each other. No 99 ql irons means no 99 ql tools.
In that game, people play alone but TRADE for goods. No one can be forever alone. Or they can form alliance no help each other. At the start of that game, you will always die without the help of current players.
Trusted merchants, tool crafters, clothiers, fighters, farmers, etc... with high ql products and good reputation are everywhere.
And you know what, I have seen much hermits in that game. Your point is not legit.
You thought I quit.

While it does looks like Salem is going in a direction that makes group play more and more a good idea, I don't think joining a group is necessary or ever will be.

Individual players who want to become tailors can do so and sell their awesome clothes in the trade threads. People who don't have time to get their Thread & Needle high enough to make the best clothes can still make some silver and buy those awesome clothes. They can even work on becoming pretty good at slotting, buy awesome clothes, slot them, and resell them at much higher prices.

This new Rose Otto is easy to make, I've made some myself already, but it looks like Fine Leathercraft is going to take me months to get if I want it. I bet I can make a ton of Rose Otto and trade it for a Fine Leather from someone who has the skill, though, or even better from a trusted trader who is acting as a middle man. I wouldn't mind a bit of a markup.

What? No, salem was never an team oriented, it even push you to be an hermit and there was no penalty for playing alone, some people alone destroyed lot of teams.

Not entirely true, a lot of things require(d) daily work and advances in any area typically made things nicer in all. (Better clothes -> artifices, purity in general etc.) Which meant that teams can always reach the nice stuff faster and more easily than hermits. A decent push towards teamplay if speed is relevant to you.

Considering the subject of the first post seemed to be more about quitting than anything and the direction this thread went, it seems more suited to HoB. If you want to make another thread more obviously geared towards recruitment, Frakked, feel free.

So difficulty depends on who crafts the clothes, or proficiencies while slotting?I raised about 15 proficiencies in needles and what used to be 89% slotting beforepatch, now is 63% after patch

Chance to socket is based on the difficulty of hte clothes and artifice you are trying to socket. The higher your prof that matches the artifice, the better chance you will have.

I noticed that my Admiral clothes have 25 difficulty thats why an additional 25 has been added to the chance.
Also, the Founding Father clothes I have were purchased pre-patch. Would there be a chance to have these items be some sort of legacy 0 difficulty? Adding 25 max difficulty just there is a little harsh for the people who saved this clothes and for those who didn't slot because of your post mentioning it would be easier later (when it seems to be only easier for newly crafted clothes not older clothes).

I may be wrong, if I am I'm sorry.
