As opposed to ever other mechanic in Salem which are all well documented and intuitive?

To some degree.

I call this one counterintuitive because it bypasses the common mechanic that logging in on another claim will send you to homestead.

The game is also pretty well documented if you use the wiki and take the care to read trough a bunch of HoB threads on sieges.

i grow tired of people that do not know anything about the game spewing ***** like this for all these pages.

if you go onto a claim you will certainly still be there the next time you log on, not sent home  .

if a claim is EXTENDED over you when you are elsewhere it performs the same way as being blocked with an item and sends you home.

in the case of the chair, the character logged off outside of a claim in the wolderness and was then taken inside afterward.

Only if you aren't logged out.
If a server restart kicks your character offline on a townclaim you will be sent to homestead on relog.

By offline I meant the character, not the account. Obviously just quitting the client on a claim won't magically teleport your (still online) character.

Also darwoth you did not kill me this week , you killed both of meth char.
Also you use a bug to kill him , Jc can say what he wants a bug is a bug
The char should be restore , I am sure everyone in this game has left their inner gates open at some point while online ( on a vclaim and being the only person living there).
Also what if darwoth had made a small claim and meth had raided it and took the chair so saying that it his fault for taking a random chair is not the point.

^This.

It's all very silly, restoring characters in a game which is very much in beta when you are amply warned that you will die, and die often. If, in some cases, John decides the odd and deadly consequence of game mechanics that you found are apt to create enough mayhem that a character restore is in order, be very grateful because imo, it's just not worth the pages of riot threads and reams of PMs begging for special treatment that result from character restoration. All you should be getting is, "Good job beta tester *pat on head* here's a pair of funny-looking pants; use them wisely in your next life".

Well
it's nice that JC showed his hand rather early in his career.
At least we, as a community, know now that the tribe&co are the determining factor on whether or not something is an "unintended mechanic" or a "bug"
If they use it consider it an unintended mechanic, if it is first used against them consider it a bug.

I don't really even know the point of playing if one of the factions has the backing of a dev.

What makes me uneasy about this is that JC (before admitting it was the trojan chair) tried to cover up that it was the trojan chair. JC made up his mind on whether or not he was going to restore the characters before he even went to the claim, proceeded to port around for 30 minutes grandstanding, and then said that "there were multiple ways he saw that they could have gotten in" (which everyone reading this thread knows is utter b/s.)

So folks, if you plan on fighting tribe&co I would suggest not. I would just suggest not playing at all.

(If JC had just said "this is unfortunately an unintended mechanic but I like it so it is staying" instead of covering it up my opinion would be changed, but alas that's not what happened.)
