no, I posted a riddle which had more answers than i gave it credit for.
Ronpaul posted both the actually correct answer, and the answer I was thinking of. Feone pointed out which answer was actually correct, but it does not change the winner as ronpaul was first on both accounts.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Have you actually read the puzzle as it was posted by ElManisero and my complaint about wording before responding?
You only make it worse.

The puzzle clearly reads to explain, how the man, who is supposed to only see one person ahead of him, guessed his hat correctly.
There is no logical chain to finish here as I stated before, and as was explained by Feone later, so the only possible real answer would be just that: "he guessed"
The answer given by RonPaul and accepted by you, takes into account, that the person in question sees two other guys, which contradicts the text of puzzle.

Before we take this back and forth any further, I'd like to say that this is the risk of riddles. Either I post simple, easy-to-Google riddles that people have said they don't like, or we can try to rewrite a few of the harder ones. The problem is that the longer and more complex the riddle, the greater chance of misinterpretation, typos, or even multiple answers.

I really appreciate Kandarim stepping up and rewriting a riddle. If others wanted to help me present interesting and challenging riddles, I would really appreciate it.

Well to add further confusion. I posted the correct answer thinking that the riddle was written incorrectly. So I fixed the riddle in my mind - then answered that.

There's no reason from the logic I gave that the 3rd person in the line (the second in line from the back) can't guess the correct hat after the 4th person in line (1st from back) fails to guess. The third person should always get it right. Thus the chance would never get to the 2nd person.

No no, the 2nd and 3rd person both get the info from the 4th at the same time. The fastest thinker would win. The third has a larger chance to answer though.

False. The 2nd person is not guaranteed to answer correctly before the 3rd person's silence. He can only answer correctly if the 1st person is wearing a dunce.

That is exactly what I just said.
They get their info at the same time, #3 just has a bigger chance of getting conclusive info than the #2.
