Tool belts

Postby Siethy » Wed Jul 16, 2014 9:38 am

Here's one I just thought of why not make the belts have 2 slots on them so you can pack your extra tools in it, pickaxe, axe, sword ,shovel, slingshot, make it so only these items are able to be put into it.
I don't know about you but I hate having to travel back to my box just because I need a different tool.

Could be handy. Just adding it to all belts seems a bit too easy though. Perhaps a new type of artifice that functions as 2 tool pockets/slot, only usable with belts.

Just to be sure... Are we talking about having things like hatchets, picks, shovels, torches, fishing rods, dowsing rods and woo-woo wands attached to a belt?

I understand the concept of item-type-specific slots/containers (like the planter's pouch, money pouch and key ring) and I am +1 for more such things.
I only wanted to point out that seeds, coins and keys are really small things when taken apart from each other, while tools are quite big in comparison with most items...

Also I thought that the "hand" slot already worked as a sort of belt slot since you aren't required to unequip your hatchet and torch in order to lift, say, a canoe...

What I would like a lot is to able to switch tools without the need to light the torch again all the times. It could be done with a really simple building called something like Stick Torch in the Ground that holds your torch lit on the ground while you use a shovel and when destroyed gives the lit torch back... Or even a very slim tool-bin that you carry around (at the same speed you carry around vases for example) and that act as a tool box...
I was lucky...

On topic though, it's a pretty cool idea. Carrying an extra tool or two would always be handy.

The struggle we had with toolbelts, was their similarities to pockets and thus an identity crisis between the two. For now we decided to just work on more pockets but we always did like the idea of the belt serving a greater purpose and it remains on our wishlist.

you did read the part where I said nothing but the tools could be put into it right, just tool specific items

But how much different is this toolbelt really from a pocket?

What if instead was an item-container like the keyring?

Made of studded leather and enforced seams, stores up to N tools (and maybe nails too) while fitting comfortably in one of your backpack slots.
I was lucky...
