How to Play Salem webpage needs a relook

Greetings,

I believe the following page:

Needs a relook and redesign, right now I tried downloading the client on a netbook and nothing happened. No where on the page says anything about needing java or system requirements.

When clicking on the "Download the client" it gives a option to Open or to Save As, both of which are bad for someone who has no idea what java is / how to find where the download section is etc...

The Background and font are in my opinion very bad, please create a table for all the text with a solid color background or something. The recent Tweets is blank, maybe better to replace this with a RSS Feed to updates / Dev Blog sort of a thing?

Also maybe create a step by step guide on how to get the latest java & installing the client sort of a thing with screenshots... maybe even for different OS's if there is time.

Or I dont know if this is even possible but would there be a installer type of a thing that will check to see your java / update it if required, download the client and create a desktop shortcut / menu thing automatically?

why would you want to force someone to update their java ?

I agree that it might need to mention java is required, possibly with a download link to the oracle site or something. Overall I'm quite happy about the design though... Going to a solid background with boring text is not going to help the looks...

I think his point is that the text is not properly contrasted to the background, making it hard to read, which I would agree with.

And also, maybe this is just on my computer, but the menu looks a bit broken since the Journal was added:

Hmm, looking at your screenshot, and also noting that it works on my laptop, it might be related to the fonts installed on the computer, or perhaps some general font settings. It seems my desktop computer chooses to use a wider font, which is breaking the menu.

This is the spot that can be troublesome to read on some monitors / setups:




It should say somewhere you need Java Installed too ... maybe a small Indicator that says if you have Java is Green, if you dont have Java its RED with a Get Java - click here thing?

Website updated to include verification of Java as an update step. When I get the time I'll look into some of the other good suggestions you made.
