Consideration of Re-Launching Salem?

Postby HolyLight » Sat Jul 05, 2014 7:59 pm

Maybe it is time to re-announce Salem to the world with the new development team and the wave of recent changes in tow.

Maybe make a new trailer, with your own companys logo / introduction ?

As salem is known for being a dead game with no content updates, you should set the records stright, as you did mention yourself you want the player base to grow.

Is this even on your own personal agenda ?

I think it might be too early for a re-launch. There are still a number of issues remaining that will drive off a new player just as fast as those issues drove them off originally - all a relaunch would probably do at this moment is... provide a bunch of quick 5/5/5/5 stat characters to scalp.

That is counterproductive.

Now, once most of these issues are addressed, a think a relaunch would be a splendid idea.

Note: It looks like they are already making an attempt to make the new player experience more... lasting. This is a good thing, IMO. Once they get to PVP/Shipwreck Island... THEN I'd recommend a re-launch. Especially the planned Shipwreck Island.

This is more of a question, asking if they are looking to do this at some point.

We have little to no intention to market and advertise Salem until we personally feel it meets the criteria we have set for ourselves to be in a Launchable state and successful title. We hope some players who enjoy the patch changes can stand behind us that we are on the right track but we have a LONG way to go to fix the rest of the issues we feel exist in Salem. When we get there, we will make new trailers, spend marketing dollars, and do everything in our power to boost up the population.

Until then, we would ask that those who are enjoying yourselves, and wish to help others find Salem through word of mouth, do so. But only under the agreement that you will educate them that it is STILL very much a work in progress and they are essentially alpha/beta testing a product that has great potential.

Bringing large groups of players to an unfinished game can be a short-sighted solution that will just compound population issues in the long run.

So you do have a marketing budget then. Good to hear.

Yes it would be foolish to make a decision to invest the time and effort into fixing the game without the upside of letting the rest of the world know about it.
