I know, I know, it's just a common pars pro toto, the same like a lot of people refer to the UK by saying "Britain" or even "England".

Well, there are three substitutions allowed in an official FIFA competition, and you may get ejected on spot depending on severity of an infraction, but, yeah, soccer is notorious for drama actors.
It doesn't happen very often in major tournaments though, an open rule-breaking is more common.
