Tried going to http://salemthegame.com/ instead of http://WWW.salemthegame.com/ and it's not working.
I noticed it's only in Chrome though, the rest redirects fine

MagicManICT wrote:Is it doing this with other websites? Defaulting to the "www" service was a default behavior in browsers since... 1998 or so? It's been a while since I've studied Internet architecture and protocols, and it wasn't a server feature back then, strictly a browser addition with Netscape 5 or 6 or so.
loftar wrote:The basic reason is that I don't want to buy the opinion that the root name of a domain should be dedicated to web servicing. HTTP is but one of many Internet protocols, and since it's so loudmouthed and verbose I don't want to give it the special place in the DNS hierarchy that it clamors for.
Addendum: If web browsers want to properly handle domain names with "www" in front of them, they should support DNS SRV records, quite simply. I already have SRV records for HTTP directly on salemthegame.com.
