New forum rules are awful. Ban everyone, pull the plug.

So what, exactly, are you doing here, again?

Ooh! Ooh! Playing a game you developed, and if not that, using the forums for that game!

Did I win?

The rules are applied selectively.

Well, if it boils down to this i'll kindly say ***** you and wont even continue this discussion

This also tells us a bit more about the developers, and why the game has been such a great success so far (Not like we didn't know before).

Of course the rules are applied selectively. Did you expect the moderators to apply computerized rules mechanically? That's not the purpose of having moderators. It's not even about having double standards; rather, the rules are an imperfect mirror of the actual underlying principles applied to make discussions civil.

Loftar gets it right here. I could easily just start banning everyone for every infraction and make a profanity filter and add a few more rules that would make this job easier, but the forums a lot less fun. However, a literal interpretation of the law doesn't always hold with it's spirit. The purpose of the forum rules is to keep things civil among a group of people who sometimes have different ideas of what the word 'civil' even means. I don't want this place to be depressing, I want to give you all as much freedom as I can without ending up with complete chaos.

I banned Claeyt for a single day because he broke the rules twice in one night, that ban would have been a warning otherwise. The rest of the instances of Latin that you quoted, Yasso, all got a blanket warning from me to go back to posting in English as my Latin is no better than anyone can pick up casually.

Just out of curiosity, where is the post he was warned for in the first place? I was under the impression the basis of his arguments regarding that racism discussion were AGAINST racism and yet you claim that he was warned for being racist.

I don't understand.

He lifted a racist cartoon off a website run by Darwoth and posted it here, trying to prove something about Darwoth being racist. The cartoon itself was offensive enough that he should have known better and was warned. If you want to talk about this further, please post in the moderation thread, not here.
