As an additional note I am completely against any sort of "safe-zone" or area with no pvp, I don't believe it would be in the spirit of the game.
I think I have a hat problem.

You still can kill him, if he had entered your area, you still can kill him, if he engaged a fight and you still can kill him, if he had killed anyone else....but you can should not be able to kill him, if he wants to stay out of trouble. This maybe 95% Salem, but it`s still very far away from Minecraft. And if non-consensual killing is gone, all those players, which love the exploration, crafting or building part of Salem will find a new home in Salem.

So.... you like the scenario where two groups are in conflict with each other and neither one wants to start the fight, because starting means you can't kill the other guy, while being the one to be attacked means you can kill your attacker. That's very silly.

I'm not sure why people keep comparing Salem to Minecraft. Salem isn't Minecraft, and aside from having some terraforming and crafting, isn't anything like it at all and isn't aspiring to be like it.

The devs already said they want to make a tutorial that will help newbies understand Salem and it's dangers and show them some of the fun things they can do in game before releasing them into the wild. That will help a lot with new player retention, I think. Otherwise, this game just isn't going to be for everyone. I don't play FPS because they're just not for me. Some people are going to try Salem, realize it's not for them, and not play. That's fine, but for those of us who like a dangerous, permadeath, open pvp, full loot, crafting game, at least we'll have this ONE game to play in and there are surely a few thousand others in the billions who have internet access on this planet who will also like this game once it's reached a releasable state. There's absolutely no reason to remove open PvP or Permadeath or full loot.

Rogue-likes have been around since the early 80s, and yet they haven't had more than a niche audience. Even AAA games like the Diablo franchise that have included hardcore mode with permanent character death really weren't very frequent until the last few years. Now you have a slew of games being developed or published that have permadeath as an option to play or is the only option. Has that all been because Seatribe released Haven & Hearth 5 years ago now? No, but I think it been one of those influential games that the right few have heard of.

I agree 100% with both of these comments. I think Salem is brilliant in concept. In fact, I badgered my neighbor so much about permadeath while watching him play Diablo 3 in Normal mode, that he and a friend switched to Hardcore mode (permadeath) and loved it so much they never played normal mode again.

Yeah, atm there are 82 players thinking like you, and I don`t know, how many players tried Salem once. Maybe the new devs should have a look to the numbers, I`m sure they are somewhere. If there is a financial concept working with less than 2-3 thousand players - fine. I wish Salem to be the game of your dreams. But if not, Salem will fail again and you and I won`t have the game of our dreams.

They got back to America like yesterday with the servers. No chance in hell they could make updates in one day.

Releasing patches (and other things) before they are done is a bad idea.

We are not relocating the servers, And we are not back in the states yet.

The first patch with content changes has always been slated for July, and is on schedule.
