Sure, but I reckon it will take quite a bit of tweaking to get it right. It would be nice if it was done in a way that encourages fertilizer diversity, too.

Do you feel it is an acceptable solution to simply further the diminishing returns so the life of the Joneses doesn't seem so lucrative?

If you're suggesting you up the diminishing returns on fertilization of fields to where lime becomes less effective more quickly, I disagree entirely with that idea. If someone is so masochistic that they want to smear 2000 lime on their field, let them by all means. The issue with lime is that it feels terribly painful and begs for macro usage in the quarrying process, not the uses of the lime you produce.

I know I know, I was being eufemistic. I almost killed a waitress last week, when she asked if I wanted lime with my soda

For lime, yes. Getting more plenty would come to depend more on levelling your stocks profiency that way, rewarding specialization.
For influence fertilizers and coal? No, please.

EDIT: then again, diminishing returns on the lime on fields would just make people spam more fields

I see.

So Potjeh, votes for limiting the abilities of his competitors so a player doesn't feel they must do something unfun simply to keep up.

Vigilance argues that a player willing to subject himself to pain should retain the gain.

This is what I believe makes Salem so unique and so fragile at the same time. So who is right? I would love to see this evolve into a full-blown discussion from more parties than just the first two to highlight the problem and navigate to solutions.

More diminishing return, one can always make more fields.

That's such a lazy copout. Personally, I get sick to the stomach by the concept of doing things in ridiculous scale, but this game practically begs for it. The only crop that isn't easily and efficiently spammed is cotton due to the fact that it takes a while to process.

Does Potjeh find this acceptable? If the Joneses have now made more fields because plenty is less effective, does limiting the diminishing returns really solve the problem?

In my opinion, no, because then it boils down to "Who can spam more fields?" which is the situation it already is. You either have to bend over and take the excruciating pain of mass-liming or you have to bend over and take the not-nearly-as-painful route of massing fields, which is only difficult if the fields you're competing with have to be tiered.

The ball is in your court then Potjeh. How do you limit the Joneses? They have now just built more fields to counter the limitation on lime.
