wiatrak wrote:Hi there!
I would like to see your vision on some game aspects:
1.Time gaps, i mean the time that boards needs to get oiled etc? are you planning to adjust them in any way?
Not at the moment. Most systems or items with time gaps can be overcome by making more of said system or item. Thus, we don't find the balancing of these things to be priority as the players themselves are capable of having more oiled boards come in more frequently by simply running more oiling troughs.
wiatrak wrote:2. Same about fertilizers and field boosting. Some special fertilizers as a rare drop?
Fertilizers, no. Rare drops, Yes. I'll add special fertilizers to our list though as our upcoming patch actually has a nice opportunity to explore this a tad.
wiatrak wrote:3. More food recipes/more diversity?
Not specifically. it is of course difficult to add new animals without new meat, new meat without new foods. etc. etc. But to tackle content at a level as low as simply food recipes, we will not be doing it. New recipes will flow in from the new high level content that generates new recipes as a derivative.

4. Animals(we saw horses there!)?
Horses sooner than husbandry. Horses are currently being looked at for their ability to shrink the map and make traveling to a companion quicker. Do not be surprised if you see them implemented for such a reason first only to then be fleshed out further at a later date.

5. Profit from profinencies(except slotting gear)?
Absolutely. High up our list as we consider it low hanging fruit.
wiatrak wrote:
6. MINING?!?!?!?!?
Yes. Fun things like Mine Carts might not make it to 2015+ but we have a pretty extensive mining rework. That being said, we don't consider mining overly broken compared to the other systems.
wiatrak wrote:
7. Market Stalls?
Yes, different, but probably more similar than most players will like.

8. Darkness?
Higher risk to go. More diversity once there.
wiatrak wrote:
9. Alchemy?
No longer the sole placeholder for Purity progress. Think potions, poisons, and very very specific purity modifications. What we are calling "The 3 P's" of Alchemy.
wiatrak wrote:
10. And the last one, will we still have to look for the best stuff we could find on the ground or we will be able to produce decent stuff(upgrading materials)?
Not for most things. We do believe very small subsets of purity advancement will have a concern for the purity values currently randomized in nodes. But many systems will advance independently of having to go forage for specific properties.
cannibalkirby wrote:stated there most likely won't be any kind of wipe or change in the map for some time, as far as I could tell. Correct me if I am wrong
Your correct. As which much of the latest patch. There are things about the new map we like, and things we done. Either way we do not see the disadvantages of the current map to be heavy enough to warrant a wipe. We have an ambitious solution, that if successful, may never require one. However, said solution will not be explored until we have fixed several key milestones in improving the game first.

We have a lot of great marketing ideas and a lot of fun things we want to do to bring back players. We do not agree with doing any of these things until we have a game in our hands we are proud to advertise and consider more complete. There is a very real budget and very real person assigned to this. We have no intention of leveraging either too hard until we feel the game is ready.
Kaios wrote:Yeah I don't really understand the logic behind this either. I'm just as excited as the next person to possibly see this game move forward in its development but hiding who the new developers are just makes no sense to me. I understand it's very likely that the names they have chosen had no affiliation with the so-called company and are merely an attempt to create a welcoming persona for this game's community but it is a bit strange you're only creating a website now with that company name and using those names as the only sole affiliation with that company. People shouldn't be afraid or adverse to asking these types of questions because frankly every player has the right to know this information, whether they realize it or not.
I've chosen the most rational looking post to your conspiracy theories to respond to. On the one hand we promised Jorb and Loftar that we would continue Salem in the spirit in which we believe they saw it whenever we feel possible. That includes Forum Drama, so why exactly would I go out of my way to squelch such entertaining dialogue? On the other hand, I do feel bad if you feel we are being deceptive. More will be known as time goes on about the company etc and I obviously hope the community members will come to know me as well. How is my name any more deceptive than any other avatar ever created, unless I'm talking to "Mr. Kaios" himself. I've shared our development history as much as I feel necessary and any feelings of it being thin are probably rooted in the very solid truth that it is. We have no intentions of pushing our own company agenda at this time as we are fully aware that the Salem Brand, especially in the context of this community, is stronger than any indi-brand. If we were Blizzard, EA, Activision etc. then maybe I could see us coming in here throwing our weight around and leaning on our past experiences and market presence. But take this as confirmation we are not said companies, and have evaluated the who we are to be much less important than the what we can do. We do not expect your trust until we earn it and at this stage in the game are only looking for confirmation that we might just have a few good ideas here and there.
