I get that there is a strong element of role-playing present in the Tribes leadership. I think its admirable and justified. I do think that some members in the tribe are causing a lot of PR trouble for their group. But the game does have pvp and permadeath in the design. Also, whether there is a tribe or not, player-killers will kill anyway.
The Tribe's leadership did set out a statement for all players to be warned. They did it out of respect for other players. Maybe some loose members do behave out of line with the Tribe's guidelines, but that does not reflect on the tribe as a whole.
You could argue that tribal leaders should take care of discipline, but they do not have to and it may not even do any good. Player-killers will kill whether or not they are in the Tribe.
It is a shame that the youtubers got a taste of harsh reality in this game; tough luck. It doesn't make the game boring, just more interesting. Maybe there should be another faction to counter the Tribe and call themselves the settlers or something. This would give newcomers a choice for guidance in the game. Whether this game gets more popular or not depends on the player base using all the mechanics in the game to develop a community. Right now the burden falls on the players' leadership, tribal and others. To think player-kills will go away is not realistic. To say that certain players should kill less depending on what others think is ridiculous. It is up to the vets to be leaders and set up guidance and protection for new players. And the the streamer should have contacted the games vets and leaders beforehand instead of jumping into a game blind while knowing it had permadeath.
The onus is on all vets and leaders of any tribe or side to nurture newcomers. We should chalk this up to bad planning and poor timing and quit blaming. Invite the streamer back under new guidance and I'm sure it could turn out well.
It would be really cool if there was more to do in the safe area of providence, maybe small plots available to new players to learn and hang out in a populated area without the risk of death and with limited growth.
