Even if none of you, not even the host, read the forums before you played, didn't any of you at least read the 'about' page of the game? The part where it says Salem is open pvp, full loot, permadeath? 'Hostility' has nothing to do with it.

The lesson you learned is that Salem is open pvp, full loot, permadeath. And that you should be more careful. It looks like you didn't even bother to claim your land.

The guy who led you all into this situation should have done a little more research. It's like if this was a more classic MMO and he had led you into a high level dungeon where all the creatures could kill you in one hit. It's not one's fault but your own that you all died of it. Learn your lesson on move on, to smarter behavior in game, or to a new game.

Yeah, I get home from a stressful day at work. I just want to relax and play a game. So what should I do? I should do homework.

I believe he already did 'research' by personally experiencing the game for a few days, which I specifically said in that post that you quoted from yet seemed to have left out.

also, thats pretty funny. Claiming our land. For one, don't we need, you know, alot of resources for that? And for two, there are ways to get through that implemented in the game anyway, so being attacked by a highly skilled player when the land was claimed would have made zero difference.

First off, DOH let me apologize from all of us veteran players for what happened to you guys today. It was a stupid man-child who did it to you and it was the equivalent example of a drunken steroid abuser running into a kindergarten and just start punching all the kids. He's an idiot for doing it and there was nothing you guys could have done to stop it. It's a flaw of the game and a flaw of vienradzis's ego that he feels like he needs to do this.

Techx is right, some players will be ***** no matter what. Martinuzz is also partially right, this game is as unique in it's harshness, perma-death, work lost to raiding and steep learning curve. They are also wrong in many ways. The game absolutely needs many, many more players. Aavak brought a ton of players to the game and was a good advertisement for it and all the veteran players should have helped you guys get started. They can say what they want but viendradzis's ***** cost the game players and because of that it hurt the game's future. To martinuzz's argument I'd say, yes, we all love the harshness of the game but we have to help the game and call out veindradzis for being an *******, and we have to call out the tribe for their continuing ***** that is hurting the game.

Some of us recognized the stream as a lifeline for the game. I gave you guys some stuff to help you along and I know others helped also. We didn't attack you even though we could have. We wanted to see you join us. But the Tribe does want to see this world burn. viendradzis's chose the cheap thrill of killing you guys over helping the game grow.

Then you don't care about the future of the game either.

Cheena wrote:You talked about how much they like this game. Liking this game doesn't mean they care about other people liking it aswell. And that said, I'll let you know that their leader has quit it long ago, after ***** to the devs about how bad the game has became. So it's even possible that they make people flee from Salem on purpose, so the devs wipe it, close it or something.

This....Exactly.

martinuzz wrote:This is a niche game that caters to those people.

DirtyOldHobo wrote:Please explain to me what 'valuable lesson' getting utterly massacred for zero good reason brings. What lesson is there to be found in a game where the players prevent you from playing? At that point, the only winning move is not to play.

The only lesson is that the tribe are ***** and they don't care about the game. There is absolutely no lesson in them preventing you from playing. It should have been changed long, long ago but the dev's ***** up. The tribe basically wiped one of the 3 servers last world to the point where the average daily player base for that server was in the single digits. They've driven away thousands of players from the game and cost Seatribe and Paradox thousands in profits on the game.

neored9 wrote:Well this is you and the streamer not knowing how to play, it's actually really easy to hide.

It is not easy for a new player to hide. They're limited to spawns in the front half of the map before the darkness. They'd have to level up and walk out to hide.

Hostility had absolutely everything to do with it. The tribe gained nothing from their deaths. They didn't need anything they had, they were never threatened by them. They had absolutely no reason to raid and kill them except for the cheap thrill of killing a 5/5/5/5 noob.

That's exactly what they'll do. They'll move on to another game and Salem dies.

At what point does it become clear to you guys in the tribe like it's become clear to us that unless we veteran players HELP new players, this game dies. When are you guys going to realize that. Honestly I'm hoping this is the point. This game doesn't have many more chances like this.

You guys could have at least given them a chance to say yes or no to the treaty and actually explained what was going on. Instead your idiots just killed them all and wiped their base for no reason.

I know you said a few days. A few days wasn't enough, quite obviously. He was stumbling around in a dangerous situation, a blind man leading blind newbies, and it finally caught up with them.

No, claiming land doesn't take a lot of resources. It can take a little time and effort, though. My claim is something like 40x60 and took me 3 days of hunting crickets to lay down.

He played for all of 'a few days' and thought that would teach him enough to stream a game and give it a good showing. He was wrong and his irresponsibility is pretty unfair to Salem and the new players who had a bad experience because of him.

So...what you're saying is, its the fault of the person who decided to show this little known and little played game to other people, and not the fault of the people who ruined the experience for the fact that they can? I just want to make sure you got your logic straight.

Yep. Because permadeath and open pvp are part of the game, and he didn't even see fit to warn them. But then, neither did Claeyt.

I like how you completely mangled my words to change the meaning.

Anyway, why didn't you help them? You still haven't said. You were even on the stream, were you not?

Either way, the game won't die because a few newbies get killed. It'll die because the mechanics suck, and until they stop sucking, the pop will remain low. And if they do stop sucking, the pop will increase again. Death will probably decrease as well since there will be better things to do than kill newbies.

You're suggesting it's someone else's fault you and your friends did something retarded.
