From an evolutionary perspective, humour, and laughter, evolved as a coping mechanism for reacting in a non aggressive way to a situation that does not make sense. In that train of thought, good old absurdism is probably the most ancient of senses of humour. Maybe humans did not evolve in Africa after all, but in the UK.
I can see it being slightly harder to appreciate, if you are on the recieving end of the joke in this case. But quite simply, if you can just see this as a valuable lesson, you might just have a good time here, if you can't get over it, there's 10 thousands of games out there that have new player protection mechanics.
Please explain to me what 'valuable lesson' getting utterly massacred for zero good reason brings. What lesson is there to be found in a game where the players prevent you from playing? At that point, the only winning move is not to play.
