I know, I don't consider any of those suggestions I made to be Twilight-esque in the least.

Let me rephrase: i don't like silly/dumb female main characters, I don't like silly kids as main characters and I don't like emo(tional)'s

I'm not sure what else I could suggest, you're really limiting yourself here. Are they silly/dumb simply because they are a female or a child? I hope that's not what you mean because a show can still be good even if the lead role(s) isn't/aren't played by an adult male.

For example, another Fantasy-type series I enjoy with a female lead role is Haven. This one you might like but idk we'll see I guess.

There are not many good series with supernatural elements..

- Supernatural is good, especially first seasons
- Grimm is decent
- Older one, maybe not the kind of supernatural you want but Carnivale was awesome.

You could maybe try Sleepy Hollows, Davinci Demons. I am not really a fan of those but maybe you'll like them

So we're looking for slightly darker supernatural themed shows? One that's not set in ye olden days but I still enjoyed was "The Dresden Files".

Just recently watched "True Detective", which has a nice dark feel to it, centered on a mix of occultism, investigations, and character development and interaction.

That's pretty much all i can think of really, short of sifting through that specific type of episode in series like the twilight zone or something.

I'm not sure to be honest, every series that I watched with a lot of kids & females turned me off (i guess they are too emotional, i considered Merlin as a 'kid' too)

I'll take a look into this

Following all of them & liking them, I'm also waiting for S2 from Under the Dome, not sure if that fits in the same genre.

Gonna give this a try

I kinda liked True Detective, I love Woody Harrelson in a non-gay-way

"The Dresden Files" were excellent for reading, but I haven't tried watching the TV series yet (saving up so I can binge).

If you're looking for an excellent and more realistic (though still dramatized) depiction of the Salem Witch Trials, "The Crucible" from 1996 still stands as one of my favorite films. Winona Ryder, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Frances Conroy (Myrtle Snow from "American Horror Story: Coven") are amazing in it.

You guys should be watching "Penny Dreadful" on Showtime. It's fantastic.

I watched the trailer for Salem and could not bring myself to download. The visuals seemed appealing but storyline looked like something that I'd spend half the time mad at. I doubt it will ever see an update er... second season.
