Nice things we haven't gotten yet in the game :(

Set in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts, 'Salem' explores what really fueled the town's infamous witch trials and dares to uncover the dark, supernatural truth hiding behind the veil of this infamous period in American history. In Salem, witches are real, but they are not who or what they seem.

I've watched it and I can give my honest opinion: absolute ****. The acting is so bad it's simply awful it's still being released. The story is stale at best after the first episode. Several completely unnecessary sex scenes and a hint of lesbian witches hints at another series that is going for the "easy" way of attracting viewers. It's definitely managed to keep me from ever watching another episode, for which I must be grateful, I suppose
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I watched the first episode after posting this last night and kinda liked it enough to watch the second episode next week.
I agree that the acting could be better and the story lacks something but i keep on watching because it's one of the few series which covers fantasy/witches/occultism is a non-twilight way.
Apart from Game of Thrones, this and Da Vinci's Demons (which isn't that great either but i keep on watching) there are no good other series out there in the 'fantasy' genre.

uh, Once Upon a Time?

Not to mention there's several other Fantasy-type series that are no longer being renewed but were still quite good. For example, Merlin or The Seeker.

I said in a non-twilight mood !!

I tried "Once Upon a Time..." & "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" but I didn't really liked it to keep watching (too childish i guess (not the correct word but closest i could come up with))
I also watched 2 or 3 seasons Merlin but that was not my thing either.

I know, I don't consider any of those suggestions I made to be Twilight-esque in the least.

I'll admit the portrayal of several Nursery Rhyme and Disney created characters in Once Upon a Time does make it seem rather childish, but I for one think it's an excellent series. Sure there's the occasional sappy, romantic scene but the series contains a deep level of character development I find lacking in most television shows these days. Not to mention watching your favourite childhood characters grow and develop during the series as they deal with moments of conflict, love, hatred and betrayal is rather interesting to me. I find the series does well in portraying how these previously one-dimensional characters would act and react during these situations. They also give very detailed and interesting back stories for some of the characters during the episodes as the series goes on, usually based on the actual stories you've heard or watched in life.

I'll suggest some more shows later on if I can recall them, I'm certain I've watched more than just the few I listed.

If by childish you mean lack of blood and gore however, well... Not all fantasy series are going to be like Game of Thrones.

No it doesn't, and it's taglines like this one that make for ignorant Americans who think mermaids are real. :D The show was garbage, though; not only was it dripping with cheese, but it was full of anachronisms. I pretty much rolled my eyes the entire hour. I'd rather watch "Once Upon A Time," which is just a recycled plotline from the 1987 run of "As The World Turns" acted out by Disney characters (and Paula Abdul, oops, I mean the Evil Queen... Seriously, who fears a woman with a top-of-the-head ponytail?)

"Game of Thrones" may get a bad reputation for the gore and sexuality, but the storylines, production, and acting are superb, which is more than can be said for most of the viewing choices in an era when Honey Boo Boo is on The Learning Channel.

Supernatural is pretty good when they're doing monster of the week episodes rather than the main plot.

And also there is amazing cast. I'm always excited about seeing a new character, it's like "OMG! This is exactly Ariel/Peter Pan/one of others same great heroes!" or on the contrary some really unexpected choices, like hot captain Hook for instance. However season 1 is kinda boring, atleast the our world part, I even wanted to drop at some point, but later plot is getting much better.

American horror story, season 3?
