wrong byproduct?

Postby merrymaidmarian » Wed Apr 02, 2014 4:19 pm

Erm... I don't get it. Why did this field give green cab as a byproduct, and not white cab? Pumpkin influence (white cab) > cotton influence (green cab)

Thought so. Can a mod please move this to bugs?

I dont think its a bug. This was common in the last world as well. Probably intended.

I distinctly remember getting red + white cab harvests previous server. I don't think this is intentional.
If this is not a bug, sevenless guide diagram is no longer correct for at least red cab.
Note that cotton influence alone still gives green cab. Haven't tested pure white cab yet, don't have 100 pumpkin influence bar fields yet.

this is normal.

tier two byproducts from tier three fields are based on the bar that is lower, not higher. for example from a wheat field with cabbage bar higher, you might think you'd get barley as your byproduct as barley comes from cabbage bar, but no it is rye. from a sea island cotton field with grain bar highest, you get indian cotton as byproduct rather than egyptian. etc.

this has been explained in other threads as well, try searching more next time.

What other threads is this explained in? Links please.

I've never seen it happen and you should really go to the bug tracker and report it as the bug it is.

i remember posting something on this, explaining it, myself. Let me see if I can dig it up again.

edit: this was the thread I was thinking of, apparently. There, potjeh reports the same issue (and I'm pretty slow on the uptake).
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Thanks Kandarim, that was exactly the thread I was thinking of, and maybe a couple of others that referred back to it.
This is just how fields work, i suppose it's possible this isn't intentional, but it's the same for all kinds of tiered crops and it's been that way for a long, long time and i thought anyone with tiered fields would be well aware of this. If OP wants his white cabbage secondary product he just needs to make cotton bar higher than pumpkin.

If someone has never seen this happen they've not harvested tiered fields.
